We are pleased to report that FPSO Helang has entered the second phase of construction, marked by the sailing away from the HRDD shipyard to the Cosco Qidang shipyard on 17 December 2018
The newly named FPSO Helang (previously known as FPSO Four Rainbow) is Yinson’s newest asset. The vessel was contracted by JX Nippon for the supply and charter of a floating production storage and offloading unit to process hydrocarbons from the Layang field off the coast of Miri, Sarawak. The contract was awarded on 30 April 2018, and is on schedule for handover Q4 2019.
The first phase of construction centred around refurbishment and life extension while the second phase will focus on integration and commissioning.
“FPSO Helang’s movement to the second shipyard is an important milestone for us at Yinson, and an indicator that the project is progressing smoothly,” said FPSO Helang Project Manager Scott Bendiksen.
“Although Yinson’s headquarters have always been in Malaysia, Helang is actually our first vessel to operate in a Malaysian oil field. We are proud to be making good strides towards contributing towards our homeground’s energy infrastructure,” he continued.
