Yinson has officially opened its latest base office in Miri, Sarawak, in a joyous ceremony held on 20th of September 2019. The ceremony was officiated by Yinson Group Chief Executive Officer Mr Lim Chern Yuan with the sounding of a traditional cultural gong made even more memorable when paired together with a lively lion dance performance, a traditional Sarawakian cultural musical and dance performance together with a spread of local delicacies.
The Miri base office provides onshore operational support to FPSO Helang, Yinson’s first vessel to operate in a Malaysian field. The vessel is now located at the Layang oil field, Block SK10, offshore Miri, Sarawak. Permanent mooring installation was completed on schedule on the 15th of September. Installation of risers and flowlines is progressing nicely with FPSO Helang on track to begin production before the end of 2019.
The opening was attended by the Yinson Management Committee alongside key Project and Operations personnel for FPSO Helang from Yinson’s Kuala Lumpur, Oslo and Singapore offices as well as representatives from client, JX Nippon Oil and Gas Exploration.
In his speech, Mr Lim expressed how delighted he is to see that Yinson’s core values were already strongly demonstrated in the Miri office. He encouraged the team to look into driving Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities in the area that would positively impact the local community.
“The Miri team has been working together so well. I believe this is the key for Yinson to achieve timely production, and thereafter, a reliable and safe operation for our client. Not only that, with this alignment with our core values, I believe that the Yinson team will be able to drive positive change in the local Miri community through sustainable and meaningful CSR initiatives,” he said.
During his speech, FPSO Helang Operations Manager Bogdan Lefter took time to acknowledge the various groups and individuals who have worked together to achieve successful vessel delivery. “I am grateful for the hard work and dedication Yinson personnel has shown in developing FPSO Helang. The Operations and Project team synergy has been the key in building and delivering our newest addition to the fleet, safely and on time. We are confident and ready to advance further towards excellent operations and maintenance regime in an effort to achieve the top-notch safety and uptime performance which has become synonymous with the Yinson Operations team’s reputation” he said.
