Climate & environment
Yinson Production is committed to being a responsible player making meaningful contributions to decarbonising the oil and gas value chain.
As part of our decarbonisation strategy, we have adapted our product offering to include carbon reduction initiatives exemplified through our Zero Emissions FPSO Concept.
Accurate monitoring and reporting of greenhouse gas emissions is a cornerstone of accurate deployment of meaningful reduction initiatives. Yinson accounts and reports for all material GHGs under Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 in accordance to internationally recognised frameworks and standards, including the UK Oil and Gas EEMS, GHG Protocol, ISO 14064 and IPIECA. We engage top tier assurers for annual external verification, ensuring the integrity of our disclosures.
Yinson Production has effluent streams as part of continuous operation. All effluent streams are discharged within regulatory requirements. We are committed, through our Group Biodiversity Policy, to minimise harm to our surrounding biome. This has led to us targeting oily water discharge content of less than 15 parts per million, compared to the World Banking Group guideline limit of less than 30 parts per million.
Waste is generated from our offices and operations. Yinson Production is striving towards full adoption of the principle of reduce, reuse and recycle on our waste streams, with responsible disposal from licensed waste management companies as the last resort.
Ship recycling, inherently sustainable through optimal material recovery from end-of-life assets, must be approached with caution due to potential risks to the environment, human health, and safety stemming from unsustainable practices. To address this concern, we have adopted secure and sustainable ship recycling practices, aligning with the IMO Hong Kong Convention, into our corporate operational standards and procedures.
In adherence to these standards, all recycling projects are accompanied by hazardous material inventories. Yinson Production upholds a policy for ship recycling, ensuring that any vessel under our ownership (or sold to an intermediary for recycling purposes) undergoes recycling at a yard that adheres to the Hong Kong International Convention for the safe and environmentally sound recycling of ships.

Biodiversity
We are always cognisant of the surrounding biome and native wildlife where we operate, this has led to Yinson Holdings Berhad adopting a Biodiversity Policy covering Yinson Production. Our material impact to the local biome is covered by the environmental impact assessment carried out by our clients for field developments. Relocation of the FPSO carries a risk of introducing invasive species. This risk is mitigated through management practices related to exchange of ballast water and hull cleaning.
